Q. How much is a survey ?

A. This is the most often asked question we hear. Since you are buying a “Professional Service” and not a product which can be taken off the shelf and sold across a counter this is a question which is most always un-answerable. It will depend on what type of a survey you will be needing. And then each survey will vary by how long each aspect of the survey takes to complete. The classic answer to this question that my father, (James L. Williams Founder of Williams Survey Company) used to give is also a question. “How long is a string?”

Q. Can I get an estimate on my survey project?

A. Certainly. We try to make an estimation of survey cost as best we are able. Good up front information from you is the key to making a proper estimation.

Q. What information do I need to get an estimation or order a survey?

A. Besides good contact information so we can get back to you please be ready to offer a “Legal Description” for what you need surveyed or a “Legal Description” of the tract we will be surveying out of (Parent Tract). Also useful is adjoining properties. Topographic features will also be helpful, for example: “My place has a county road on the South side and the North side and has an old brushy fenceline along it. It is mostly clear with light mesquites except for heavy brush along the creek side.” You can see that a property like the one described above would get a higher estimate than one of the same size but described like this: “ My place has a county road along the West and North sides. The East and South sides are fenced and there is little if any brush that will get in the way of getting around the place.”
